Summary
Developing a thorough understanding of finance process and procedures within the different sub-teams, applying these consistently in your role.
Maintaining, compiling and reviewing data within excel and/or databases and complete analysis and standard summary reports.
Ensuring a delivery of timely and accurate financial information, taking action to handle and resolve queries by dealing with appropriate suppliers or colleague across the business.
Ensuring business policies and governance procedures are maintained.
Playing part in reviewing and updating existing processes, making recommendations for improvement.
Training
Finance Data Technician Apprenticeship Level 3.
Data is at the heart of accounting, and therefore data analysis can help accountants deliver more value to businesses. Accounting involves data from various sources and sometimes there aren’t dedicated resources to support working on the data, ready to be used by the accounting team.
The Data Technician apprenticeship programme integrates eight modules of technical training with work based projects. This ensures that learning and skills are directly applied to the apprentice’s role, and maximises the time used as part of off-the-job training. For each module, learners benefit from attending small, scheduled Live Online classes taught by a subject matter specialist.
The units include:
Microsoft Office Specialist: Excel Associate.
Data Literacy.
Bookkeeping.
Data Analysis and Visualisation with Excel.
Final Accounts Preparation (FAPR).
Databases and Data Modelling.
Data Challenge workshop.
Indirect Tax (IDRX).
Qualifications required
English and Maths GCSE grade 9 to 4 (or expected grade if currently studying), or equivalent qualification.
Skills required
Experience of using Microsoft Word/Excel and other Microsoft programmes
Keen interest in pursuing a career in Finance
Strong Communication Skills

Work to agreed timescales
Prospects
At the end of the apprenticeship, colleague will be to appointed into Finance Analyst role
Potential to move onto Professional Accounting/Taxation L4 or L7
