The Rehabilitation Service has an exciting opportunity for either an existing Therapy Assistant or an experienced Healthcare Assistant with suitable experience who is looking to develop their role at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

You will work as an assistant practitioner across all Elderly Medical wards, depending on the need of the day.

To be responsible for participating in ward board rounds, supporting ward staff in the identification of patients requiring either occupational therapy or physiotherapy. Working with therapists on the ward and undertaking therapy programmes to improve a patient’s mobility and functional ability and assist in the risk assessment process for patient’s needs on discharge.

The integrated Rehabilitation Service aims to provide a progressive, forward thinking approach to patient care. Our team has excellent clinical and teaching backgrounds and are able to build on your existing skills and knowledge, through appraisal and supervision. We are keen to promote collaborative practice and to develop staff within a supportive and friendly environment.

• To work without direct supervision within a specified clinical area undertaking basic assessments and continuing treatment as delegated by the qualified occupational therapists, physiotherapist, or students.
• To facilitate rapid discharge of non-complex patients.
To assist qualified occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and students in the delivery of Rehabilitation Services within the speciality.
• To be responsible for identifying and organising the training needs of the therapy assistants with other Band 4 Assistant Practitioners within the service.
• To undertake the supervision and appraisal of delegated therapy assistants.
