Summary
Applications are invited for a Full-Time Assistant Director Communications at Defence Relationship Management (DRM) and the Council of Reserve Forces’ & Cadets’ Association (CRFCA). The post is based in Holderness House, London EC2A 4EY.
This is an exciting time to be joining the Communications team at Defence Relationship Management (DRM). Reporting to the Director and as a member of the Senior Management Team, the Assistant Director, Communications will be providing guidance and advice on a review of Employer Engagement, including the communications function.
The position is responsible for the external affairs strategy and stakeholder management for DRM. The successful candidate needs to ensure alignment and consistency of messaging for Employer Engagement campaigns across DRM. They will manage projects to continually improve DRM’s visibility, reputation and influence while ensuring effective engagement with employers and stakeholders. They are responsible for guaranteeing that all events run by DRM are done so to a high standard and adhere to the relevant Directive and the Service Level Agreement.
Key success measures
• Writing a three year Communications strategy and an annual Communications plan
• Delivering 13 Gold Award events each year on time and to budget including leading on monthly meetings with the regional Heads of Engagement
• Delivering a national Gold Award campaign each year on time and to budget, ensuring consistency amongst all regions including leading on monthly meetings with Heads of Communications
• Delivery of key Employer Engagement annual events ensuring feedback is received within a week, evaluated and reported to key stakeholders
Driving results
• Managing a team of four: Event Manager, Event Officer, Digital Manager and Awards Co-ordinator
• Member of the Senior Management Team, supporting Director DRM in the corporate leadership of DRM
• Overseeing and facilitating strategic stakeholder engagement opportunities with key external organisations, audiences and policy makers to support business development and corporate reputation
• Ensure close, positive and productive working relationships between the DRM Comms team and the Assistant Director of Corporate Communications, Regional Employer Engagement Directors and regional Heads of Communications to ensure consistent messaging across all communications channels
• Being the subject matter expert on the Employer Recognition Scheme offering guidance and advice as needed
Required Skills
• Strong background (5+ years) in Marketing and Communications from either the private or public sector.
• Demonstrable success in developing communications strategies and plans in an environment with both financial and political constraints.
• Experience of leading the development of integrated communication strategies and
delivering insight-driven campaigns across a range of marketing communication channels
• The ability to summarise and simplify complex ideas and information.
• Experience of working and managing a team to tight deadlines.
Desired Skills
• Knowledge of working with a CRM System, preferably Salesforce.
• An understanding, gained through practical experience, of events management.
• Experience of managing small teams and developing a positive, creative and fun working environment.
