Summary

Relief Mobile Library Manager - Leiston

Suffolk Libraries is an independent and charitable society which runs Suffolk’s library service.
Our vision is to “transform lives through access to knowledge and resources, promote lifelong learning and strengthen communities by meeting their evolving needs.”
Our Mobile Library Service is a public access mobile library, visiting rural communities throughout Suffolk. We currently operate 3 large vehicles which visit over 580 stops on a four-week timetable.
We are currently looking for a Relief Mobile Library Manager to provide cover for the mobile library vehicles that are based throughout Suffolk. The role which will involve occasional weekend work, is to cover any permanent staff absences due to annual leave, training, or sickness. It will also involve driving mobile libraries to the mechanics (based near Lavenham) and driving the ‘reserve’ mobile back for the permanent staff to use while the regular vehicle is undergoing maintenance work.
There may also be the opportunity for the successful applicant to provide cover in static libraries.

We are interested in someone who:

• Has extensive experience of driving (preferably a 7.5 tonne vehicle) and holds a clean full C1 category driving license.
• Can demonstrate appropriate and effective communication skills with the aim of building positive and supportive relations with customers and communities.
• Is confident and competent in using the internet, email and using a variety of devices and applications
• Can be proactive and promote innovative ideas that will help make the library relevant and increase the use of the mobile library service.
• Is reliable and responsible, and understands the importance of keeping to a timetable.

You would also be required to ensure that the vehicle is fit for purpose by undertaking the regular routine maintenance checks, take responsibility for the security and cleanliness of the vehicle inside and out and be responsible for the service offered to customers.
Part of the role includes ensuring that the books available are of a suitable standard, rotating these with other libraries to offer new choice to customers and removing from stock any old or damaged stock.
If you have experience in a customer facing role, enjoy helping people, hold a clean full C1 driving licence and have an interest in books and computers, we would like to hear from you.

This role has no guaranteed hours and will involve weekend work and cover for any permanent staff absences due to annual leave, training or sickness.
The rate of pay for this position commences at £13.85 per hour. If you would like to apply for this role, please complete an application form which can be found at: Suffolk Libraries Job Page
