Summary


Working as a Clinical Specialist within a dedicated surgical team of staff
including podiatric surgeons, podiatrists, podiatry assistants and support
staff to ensure foot surgery services are provided in a coherent manner in order to fulfil contract obligations.

You will be expected to provide general management support within the Team through developing skills as an extended scope practitioner alongside the Consultant Podiatric Surgeon.

You will be responsible for assessing surgical patients developing treatment plans, coordinating consent, undertake outpatient assessments, developing theatre skills, post-operative follow-up clinics as well as staff training, supervision, mentoring and appraising clinical staff as well as chairing team meetings. Excellent IT skills will be required as well as a sound working knowledge and practical use of SystmOne and PASCOM.

You will need to be flexible to the needs of the service provision and will be expected to keep up to date with clinical and professional developments, exhibit portfolio maintenance and should also take part in research and audit projects. You will need to be well-motivated, flexible and have good clinical, communication and team leading/working skills. You will be responsible for organizing and maintaining caseloads of patients under the leadership of the Consultant Podiatric Surgeon based upon a planned weekly program.

To work as an extended scope practitioner within a highly motivated team, working in a dedicated foot surgery unit providing a high standard of quality clinical care.
Assist Consultant Podiatric Surgeon with special projects, improving service delivery, as integral part of surgical team
Pre-Surgical Assessments
Administration of local anaesthesia (Digital, ankle and popliteal blocks)
Assist in theatre
Post-operative follow-up clinics
Appraisal of staff
Supervision of staff
Mentoring of new staff
Maintain departmental policies, protocols and guidelines in line with evidence based practice
Adhere to PGDs
Be proactive in Trust/departmental audit/research projects/clinical trials
Participate and contribute to Team Meetings
Be aware of KPI and 18 Week RTT Requirements
