Summary
Job Title: Temporary Specialist RORO Class 2 HGV Driver
Duration: From May 20th until August 17th, potentially longer
Location: Bardon WTS (with travel to other council locations when required)
About Us:
Leicestershire County Council is currently seeking a temporary specialist HGV Driver (Ro-Ro) to join our Contracts and Haulage Team. This position has become available due to a long-term illness and requires urgent onboarding to ensure seamless operations.
Responsibilities:
The role involves transporting waste materials from Leicestershire County Council’s Recycling and Household Waste Sites (RHWS) to disposal locations, utilizing hook loader heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). The successful candidate will be responsible for completing all uplifts and other assigned tasks efficiently and effectively.
Shift Pattern:
4 on 4 off, including weekends, bank holidays, and out-of-hours working.
Requirements:
HGV licence
Driver CPC
Conduct daily vehicle checks in line with policy and legislation
Report all defects promptly and follow supervisor guidance
Ensure compliance with tachograph regulations
Wear uniform and PPE for safety
Apply health and safety requirements to work tasks
Good organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize workload effectively
Full valid driving license including Business Insurance
Pay: £12.81 per hour
double pay for B/H
Candidates with significant experience driving HGV's
