Summary

FM Conway is looking to recruit a Street Lighting Apprentice to join the Street Lighting division based out of our West Drayton depot. This is a full time, permanent role, offering full training and a clear career pathway.

The Street Lighting Apprentice role

During your apprenticeship you will benefit from an external training programme, which includes a full weeks’ worth of accredited training/NVQ each quarter, at our training partner’s centre in Acle Norfolk. During this time your overnight stay, accommodation and expenses are all covered!

You will be working towards a Level 2 apprenticeship and a Level 2 National Vocational Qualification in Highways Electrical. At the end of your 2 years training and after gaining competence on-site, you will have the potential to enhance your career by moving on to the level 3 qualification.

Other responsibilities include:

-Working within a small team on Street Lighting Infrastructure in various London Boroughs

-Gaining valuable experience and skills working as an Apprentice alongside an approved mentor, who is registered under the HEA / HERS Electrical Registration Scheme or equivalent

-Learning electrical industry accredited knowledge, receiving training and guidance to achieve on the job experience, with regular site assessments captured via your management team.

-Gaining awareness of all aspects of the installation/removal process of electrical supplies, electrical components, street furniture and the dangers it presents

-Experiencing how registered and competent operatives, use scaled drawings of basic electrical installations and detailed drawings of underground cabling systems

-Working outside and training in all weather conditions, experiencing the requirement to carry out electrical installations, using insulated hand tools, infrastructure installations which requires essential use of digging tools

-Gaining knowledge and experience working at height, using mobile elevated working platforms, steps, ladders and mobile scaffold towers

-Receiving 6–8-weekly review consultations from an approved manager on overall commitment & progression

What we are looking for in our Street Lighting Apprentice

To be considered for this role you must have GCSE’s or equivalent in Maths and English. You will be reliable, hardworking with an interest in the electrical and construction industries. You will have strong communication skills and the enthusiasm to learn and develop.
