Summary

Main purpose of the job:
- To undertake, maintenance, service and repair and restoration activities on motor vehicles of all types to the highest standard within the scheduled times
- To care for customers vehicles and property and seek to achieve the highest customer satisfaction.
- To carry out all work in a safe, environmentally friendly, and economical way
- To build a bank of knowledge and skills to diagnose faults, carry out tests on vehicles and effect permanent and complete repairs.
- To enhance the reputation of Millstream Garage at every opportunity when interacting with others

Job Relationships: Sales Manager

Limits of authority: To sign job cards on vehicles worked on, indicating they take responsibility of the repair / service as qualified technicians on behalf of Millstream Garage Ltd
Control of on-the-job training and coaching of assigned trainees and apprentices

Responsibilities:

- Protect customer vehicles with wing covers, floor mats and seat covers, using wipes and other consumables to keep customers vehicles clean. Work carefully to avoid accidental damage to vehicles and components during work activities
- Maintain the security of customers vehicles while in your custody, including personal effects and contents by locking vehicles when they are left unattended.
- Ensure that customer belongings and displaced parts are carefully stored during repair
- To drive customers vehicles in a safe and considerate manner at all times
- To carry out work as per job card instructions, within manufacturers estimated repair times, signing off each stage upon completion. Ensure that all parts on the work instruction are fitted to the vehicle
- Carry out repairs completely and effectively in accordance with the repair instructions and within the time allocated to give high standards of customer service
- To carry out Duty of Care checks thoroughly, identifying potential work required, categorising red, amber and green work and passing to parts / workshop control for review in a timely manner
- Complete a write up on the job card, to observe, recognise and report on vehicle and of all work completed including that under manufacturer’s warranty, or additional technical enquiries
- To advise Workshop Manager if additional damage, faults or defects are found whilst working on the vehicle and seek approval before proceeding and seek assistance in the rectification of faults if necessary
- Ensure any additional parts required are authorised, ordered and received in a timely manner to meet promised completion times
- Note and record on job cards and other media as required, time spent on jobs, all parts, components, lubricants and consumables used, written in a neat, understandable and logical fashion
- Seek to minimise wastage of all materials, oils and fluids by careful use and accurately reporting all components, materials and consumables used.
- Ensure that all vehicles are thoroughly examined, advise and report on condition, vehicle faults and servicing requirements noticed while working on vehicles, including future servicing / repair requirements
- To ensure that vehicles comply with safety standards when returned to the forecourt, or that faults have been reported and noted on job card
- To carry out work as requested by Sales Manager
- To take care of dealership equipment, special tools and personal tools and to operate all equipment and carry out all duties in a safe manner, with all vehicle and/or equipment faults/potential faults reported
- Be aware of and adhere to the maintenance regulations of tools, equipment and literature
- To maintain equipment, protective clothing and keep work areas in a clean, tidy, organised and free from health and safety hazards
- Personal productivity to achieve target set by Manager for period
- To supervise and assist with the training of any Apprentices when required by the Workshop Controller, assigned Apprentice to have completed training schedule for day / week
- To ensure highest standard of courtesy and integrity when interacting with members of the public to create outstanding customer confidence in the service offered by Millstream Garage by ensuring a professional performance and exceptional commitment to customer care
- To be polite and courteous to all customers and staff and to uphold the Millstream values at all times and enhance the name of Millstream where possible
- Any other duties as and when required by senior company managers that are reasonably within the capabilities of the person and are aimed at achieving the company’s objectives and goals.

Qualifications, Training and Experience

- To maintain and improve standards of work by attending training courses and keep up to date with technical bulletins
- Make full use of Special Tools, diagnostic, service equipment and training to improve service levels and department efficiency
- Served a recognised apprenticeship or other dealership approved training scheme
- Obtained a City & Guilds qualification or other adequate qualifications
- Experience in the diagnosis, servicing, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles
- Receive training and maintain best practice in manual handling methods
- Organised and methodical approach to problem solving
- A care for and attention to detail
- Undertaken manufacturers training courses and maintained knowledge of work methods and technical data
