We are looking to recruit two Health Care Assistants/ Housekeepers. We have a 37.5 hour per week position and 22.5 hour per week position available. The working patterns are based over a 7 day week, working an internal rotation.

The post holder will be responsible for providing a range of personal care for babies, parents and relatives and a range of clinical duties under the guidance of a registered healthcare professional. As part of the Unit team responsible for the coordination of all the facilities in the ward area to ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment is maintained as determined by the Lead Nurse and/or Shift Leader.

The post holder will work independently performing several clinical duties/tasks following training and meeting competencies within role as per policy and procedure.

The post holder will ensure cleaning, catering, linen, and minor maintenance standards meet the individual patient’s needs. They will need to report promptly to the person in charge of the department any deficiencies so that appropriate action can be taken.

The role will initially be offered as a Band 2 position. On completion of the NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare, the North West Neonatal Operational Delivery Network nonclinical support worker course and clinical competencies set out by the your line manager you will progress to the Band 3 role.

Working under the direction of the shift leader, participate in the clinical care provided to babies prioritising workload appropriately and developing competencies that safeguard practice and effectiveness in role.
• Have proficient attitudes and behaviours compatible with NHS and Trust Values
• Work as part of a designated clinical and care team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual.
• Assist babies with personal hygiene.
• Support Moving and Handling, use of mobility aids, correct babies positioning, assess pressure areas and skin integrity.
• Developing positive relationships with parents, families, and carers
• Be aware of the babies’ needs – emotional, social, physical, and cultural. Respect privacy, dignity and beliefs. Acts in a way that supports equality and diversity values.
• Work as part of the team in a co-operative, professional and constructive manner.
• Be actively involved in health promotion such as:• Smoking cessation, Infant feeding choices

On-Call

Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.

• Always maintain confidentiality.
• Report any information regarding the wellbeing of the babies to the Registered Health Care Professional in a timely manner.
• Support individuals who are distressed
• Manage and organise time and activities to support and meet the needs of individuals.
