Learning Disability Liaison Nurse (Health Facilitation Service, Bedfordshire and Luton)

Do you have a passion for working with people who have a learning disability and supporting them to access health services when they need to?

An opportunity has arisen with the Acute Liaison Nurses of the Health Facilitation Service, which is part of the Learning Disability Service in Bedfordshire and Luton, East London Foundation NHS Trust. (ELFT)

The role is suitable for a dynamic and compassionate registered nurse who is committed to supporting the needs of adults with a learning disability who are accessing the services within an acute hospital setting either as an inpatient, an outpatient or planned admission.

You will need to be passionate about ensuring a high-quality, holistic approach to the health care and support provided to people with learning disabilities, in the acute care environment. You will be required to work autonomously and as part of a wider team and deliver on projects reducing health inequalities.

You will be provided support to develop your nursing skills within an established team, to enhance your autonomous practice and engage with a range of different agencies. The Trust actively encourages professional development through the appraisal and supervision process, and you will be provided with regular supervision.

Knowledge of local and national health initiatives that focus on the health of people who have a learning disability is a key requirement of this job. Additionally, a sound knowledge and understanding of physical health conditions which affect the learning disability population is essential.

You will work alongside a Lead Liaison Learning Disability Nurse as well as alongside members of the wider multidisciplinary clinical team.
