Summary


We have an excellent fixed term opportunity for 12 months for an experienced substance misuse pharmacist to lead our services within the organisation. Secondment will also be considered.

Based at our Prestwich site, you will lead our pharmacy team in providing high quality pharmaceutical care to our inpatient and community substance misuse services.



The ideal candidate will:

- Have significant experience of substance misuse therapeutics, multidisciplinary (MDT) working as well as having good communication skills.

- Work closely with healthcare teams to manage medications for patients with substance abuse disorders. This involves input to medication reviews, adjusting dosages, and monitoring patient responses.

- Provide counselling and education to patients and their families about the risks and benefits of medications used in substance abuse treatment. This includes information about potential side effects, drug interactions, and strategies for managing withdrawal symptoms.

- Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop individualised treatment plans for patients with substance abuse disorders. This may involve coordinating care with other healthcare professionals.

-Monitor patients' progress throughout the treatment process, assessing their response to medications and making adjustments as needed. They also provide ongoing support to help patients stay motivated and adhere to their treatment plans.

-Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations governing the use of controlled substances, including maintaining accurate records and adhering to prescribing guidelines.

-Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, and community organisations involved in substance abuse treatment to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
