Summary

In conjunction with the Head of Nursing and Macmillan Lead Cancer Nurse, will deliver the modernisation agenda within their clinical setting, including effective leadership, monitoring and maintaining professional and care standards, work collaboratively, manage complaints as per Trust policy and lead the specialist nursing contribution to the governance agenda Identify, support and provide leadership for new service developments and improvements for Upper GI Cancer patients Lead by example and act as a positive role model for all staff, taking responsibility for own professional development Provide leadership that promotes patient focused care Lead on the development and delivery of cancer education and training for patients and staff, relevant to specialist nursing practice. Provide clinical leadership and line management of staff if appropriate, ensuring the delivery of the highest professional standards through staff development and individual performance appraisal/review. Maintain personal standards of conduct and behaviour, which are consistent with Trust and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards and requirements Actively contribute to, and support agreed developments within the Business Group, relevant to specialty Act as key worker within agreed tumour specific protocols, leading on patient and carer communication issues and co-ordinate the patient pathway Provide expert nursing advice and support to other Health Care Professionals (HCP) The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trusts policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately. If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
