Summary


Manages the Clinical Respiratory and Sleep Physiology Service, including allocation of work, staff management, service planning, policy development and budget management.

• Undertakes highly specialist respiratory/sleep procedures, analyses results, reports on outcomes and advises clinicians.

• Undertakes management, clinical supervision and training of staff.

• Responsible for clinical audit of activities, R & D activities and equipment testing.

• To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries

· Lead in complaints management when required within EKHUFT timeframes

Registration with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP) or HCPC

• BSc in Clinical Physiology (Respiratory) or equivalent with equivalent experience to masters level.

• D32/D33 assessors award or mentorship qualification.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills in order to receive and provide information to a broad spectrum of people.



Communications and Relationships

• Frequently required to provide and receive service related information (verbally, written or electronically) to/from a broad spectrum of people including senior managers, clinicians, GP's and other health care professionals. This information is often of a highly complex and sensitive nature.

• Frequently required to communicate highly specialist test procedures, results and related information (verbally, written or electronically) to clinicians, GP's, patients and relatives. This information is often of a highly complex and sensitive nature.

• An extensive range of interpersonal skills, such as explaining, persuading, influencing, advising, negotiating and motivating are required on a daily basis.

• Difficulties in communication are common as one often finds oneself dealing with people who are upset, angry, ill, confused, may have cognitive issues or who may not speak English as their first language.
