Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Radiographer with an interest in Interventional Radiology and General Radiology to work within the Radiology Department at Liverpool University Hospital Foundation Trust (Royal Liverpool University Hospital site).

We are a busy department, based across two sites. Aintree University Hospital is the Trauma centre for the region; Royal Liverpool University Hospital is a centre for multiple specialist care pathways.
Our Interventional Radiology Department is large and undertakes specialised procedures, with a team consisting of Radiographers, Nurses, Support staff and Radiologists. We are also part of the Registrar teaching programme.

The Interventional Radiology and General Radiology areas both maintain a 24/7 service.

The post is ideal for a suitably experienced professional to extend their skills and experience whilst working in a truly team-based environment. It is essential that you are flexible and are able to work a range of hours that includes long days, evenings, weekends according to the needs of the service. The ability to multi-task in often demanding circumstances is a key attribute. As our service expands, the option to specialise solely in Interventional Radiology may be explored.

The role requires working as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality imaging while ensuring Trust values are adhered to.

All Radiographic staff are responsible for reporting equipment faults and liaising with clinical teams where required. There are various roles shared out within the team including PPE audit, QA, day to day running of the department.

When working in general x-ray, candidates in this role may be required to support of Area Leads and take responsibility for the general department in their absence. They should also assist with & support development of Band 5 Radiographers ensuring compliance with department protocols and procedures.

On the new site, the Interventional Department has 2 IR suites, 1 Ultrasound/multipurpose room and an Interventional CT scanner. The Interventional Theatre is remotely located from Radiology, on the Theatre floor. This has led to change in process with all theatre patients admitted and recovered in the same areas. Our department provides complex radiological procedures in line with the specialist care the Trust offers. Radiographic support is also provided for Cardiology at a location separate to the Interventional Department

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.
