Summary


Are you a Registered Mental Health Nurse looking for the chance to develop your career within CPFT?  If so, we might just have the role for you!

Maple ward is a 22-bed mental health inpatient unit for people with mental health condition or Dementia that require hospital admission. The team offers care and treatment to individuals and their carers to reduce distress and improve their quality of life.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST BE A REGISTERED MENTAL HEALTH NURSE TO APPLY.

To demonstrate highly developed clinical nursing skills, acting as a role model and providing professional leadership, being a clinical advisor and educator to team members. Assisting the team in making clinical decisions and when planning and prioritising patient care and delegation to team members.

Ensuring appropriate multidisciplinary assessments of patients needs and those of their carers are completed in a timely manner. Directing the staff in working in partnership with the patient and carer to agree patient focused multidisciplinary rehabilitation/care goals.

Responding appropriately to the changing patients needs, escalating problems to Medical or specialist staff, and /or the Ward Manager, In-patient Business Manager or On Call Manager if the situation cannot be resolved at ward level. Be prepared to administer emergency life support and defibrillation as required according to trust policy. Recognising your own limitations in the provision of clinical care and urgency of patient needs referring to other health care professionals accordingly.

• To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the evidence-based care required, including health promotion for a named service user/group ensuring it meets Trust timescales.
• To ensure that the requirements of the Mental Health Act 2007 are observed, adhered to, and implemented.
• To promote carer and service user involvement within the service and for its provision. To encourage recovery, discovery, and independence, taking into account risk assessment and management.
• To establish therapeutic relationships with service users, and the implementation of evidence based therapeutic interventions with appropriate boundaries in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Councils professional code of conduct
• To demonstrate care and compassion in your work
• To be responsible for the safe custody and administration of medicines in accordance with all medicine policies
• To respect and value the different therapeutic approaches within the multidisciplinary team but ensure that the agreed philosophy approach is adopted and followed
• To ensure that accurate and timely written records are kept which comply with the Trust policy and NMC guidance, reporting on any issues as appropriate.
• Empower service users by ensuring that they receive the relevant information about their treatment, medication, available services, advocacy services, ward routines and safety procedures.
• To have completed and continue the delivery of support to Student Nurses in a formal capacity (Mentorship/Supervision/Practice Assessor.)
