Summary


To provide and maintain the highest possible standards of nursing care within the Endoscopy Department.
• Assess, monitor and support patients undergoing endoscopy procedures
• Assist the endoscopist to undertake diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
• Communicate effectively with patients to prepare them for procedures and provide accurate information regarding diagnosis and aftercare

We are a Centre for Excellence in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, with ongoing research, development and expansion within our department. We have 2 procedure rooms, and provide emergency inpatient service.

We’re looking for dynamic staff who want to work in a team that provides high-quality compassionate care, and can demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills. We are happy to consider newly-qualified nurses as well as nurses without endoscopy experience but who are looking for a new clinical direction.

We can offer you a training program where you will be fully supported by our Clinical Education Team and other senior staff during for a 2 month supernumerary period, so you can reach your level of competence to work independently as an Endoscopy Nurse in diagnostics. There is opportunities for development in therapeutic procedures.

• Assess, monitor and support patients undergoing endoscopy
• Assist the endoscopist to undertake diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
• Communicate effectively with patients to prepare them for procedures and provide accurate information regarding diagnosis and aftercare
• Maintain patient dignity and confidentiality at all times.
• Ensure safe recovery post procedure, monitor the patient to ensure early identification of post endoscopic complications.
• Demonstrate technical competence and clinical effectiveness in assisting with endoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment is available and working correctly
• Complete or be working towards Endoscopy and Trust competencies within a time frame agreed with Sister and with the support of a named mentor.
