Summary


We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced dynamic midwife to join our team who is passionate about delivering high, quality care, along with achieving the highest possible patient experience.

The Tyne Valley Bright Horizons midwifery service has 3 teams East, West and Central. This is a continuity, case loading model to deliver the Better Births vision.

Full time or Part time hours could be considered

There is an on call commitment is to support low risk births in Hexham maternity unit/home however, as part of the continuity model, opportunity will be given for you to attend Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital with women from your caseload for planned care in the consultant unit. This will provide excellent opportunities to develop and maintain your all-round experience in a progressive environment.

You should be able to demonstrate good communication skills, have a flexible approach to care and working practices as well as being sensitive to women’s needs and choices.

Candidates will have an on-call commitment.

It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us. We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.

To assume responsibility for the devolved management of a ward/unit/caseload including the assessment of care needs, the implementation of evidence based programme of care in the absence of the Band 7 Midwife.

To supervise, support and educate junior members of the team.

To be responsible for all midwifery care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.

To participate in on-call hospital/community rota.

To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
