On-Site IT Engineer (Deployment)

We are seeking highly motivated and skilled site IT engineer to join our IT Digital Operations team. Providing on-site IT support for a programme of deploying replacement hardware for end-of-life devices, and the management of ad-hoc new hardware requests from departments across the Trust locations.

The IT Digital Operations team is part of the IT Department within the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The teams provides end-user IT support to staff across the Trust and it consists of the Service Desk team, Desktop build & Virtualisation team and the site engineering teams (in which this role sits).

We provide services Monday - Friday 08:00-18:00 with a out of hours service for major or critical incidents.
• Responsible for identifying and managing the rolling replacement of “end-of-life” IT hardware within the Trust.
• Manage workload of roll-out schedule and any service desk tickets assigned to Onsite Build team.
• Maintain up to date documentation and inventory of PC and end user devices.
• Ensure replacement devices are configured with the required software for the device it’s replacing.
• Image ‘Refresh’ and ad-hoc ordered hardware with the Trust’s standard image.
• Receipt hardware deliveries and secure storage of ‘refresh’ and ad-hoc hardware.
• Provide technical IT support services for end-user IT devices.
• Organise and run “Laptop Clinics” for remote workers to attend for upgrades or replacement of their issued Trust-owned hardware.
• Investigate and resolve end user device issues for Windows OS devices.
• Ensure all equipment disposal complies with Trust policy and cyber security standards.
• Maintain an effective working relations with all stakeholders.

Working as the on-site deployment engineer you will support the programme of work to refresh and maintain end-user IT equipment across all site locations. You will act as the deployment engineer supporting the work of onsite IT support engineers at your assigned site, and also be available for outreach site support on a regular basis (currently Hammersmith Broadway and Dean Street).

You will act as the co-ordinator of the hardware refresh schedules at your assigned sites. You will be responsible for receipting deliveries, imaging, liaising with operational leads for the deployment of new IT devices, the associated IT asset management, ad-hoc department/office move support and installing any necessary approved software.

In addition, the post holders will organise Laptop "clinics" for remote working staff to book appointments for mobile hardware replacements.

You will manage a request queue on the ITSM toolset, for the fulfilment of new hardware orders placed by departments across the Trust.

Working with wider teams within the IT Department you will ensure that devices deployed as part of the hardware refresh programme are configured to meet the operational requirements of the department in which they are to be used.

The post holder will be expected to have knowledge of acute hospital care and data flow. Experience in the end-user support either on-site or remotely is a requirement.

These posts will be based at either of the two main Hospital sites of Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, SW10 9NH or West Middlesex University Hospital TW7 6AF. However, the post holders will be required to provide on-site support across all Trust sites.
