Summary


Trust Clinical Fellow Program in Acute and General Internal Medicine

The Hillingdon Hospital is offering an exciting opportunity to join our trust Clinical Fellow Programme. This offers an opportunity for those working at a staff grade/registrar level to train in Elderly Medicine, Acute Internal Medicine, Respiratory, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Gastroenterolgy and Cardiology. The programme is led by Dr Giri Tarigopula.

This is a 12-month fixed term post, with the option of further extension. The Trust are exploring the opportunity for these post holders to join the North-West London CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) Programme.

The posts are full time and include an on-call requirement. They are available immediately.

This is not a Deanery recognised training post.

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced doctors to become part of the Trust Medical to work within our acute medical specialities. These are 6 monthly rotations commencing August 24 and the post holder will be a part of SpR level rota for a 12-month period. The post-holder will be expected to become an integral part of the specialities and wider junior medical team at THHFT.

Daily activity will include consultant led ward rounds on the Acute Medical or speciality wards in COTE, cardiology, diabetes &endocrinology, gastroenterology and respiratory medicine with experience in the management of acute conditions and supervision of the junior team. The post holder will be supported by FY1 and IMT Trainees and will have direct consultant level support.

He/she will have responsibility for ward inpatients and, as such, will be expected to attend board rounds, ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings. He/she will help supervise the ward juniors, help manage the inpatients and help coordinate their discharge planning. The post holder will participate in audit and governance activities of the ward and help deliver teaching and training to junior colleagues, medical students and physician associates.

The Hillingdon Hospital Foundation Trust comprises of two hospitals in West London lying just within the M25. Hillingdon Hospital is the only acute hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services.

The Mount Vernon Hospital, in the north of the Borough, delivers out- patient services, elective surgery, elective Endoscopy, minor injuries unit and some older peoples’ services. Mount Vernon also hosts the North and East Hertfordshire Cancer Centre which our patients use.

The Trust has a turnover of around £250 million. We manage 614 inpatient beds and we employ over 3,300 staff. We deliver high quality healthcare to the residents of the London Borough of Hillingdon, and increasingly to those living in the surrounding areas of Ealing, Harrow, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, giving us a total catchment population of over 350,000 people.

The Hillingdon Hospital provides high quality medical emergency and specialist services, with at least 13,500 admissions and 47,000 outpatient attendances a year. The Trust provides specialist services in Endocrinology, Diabetes, Cardiology (with close links to Harefield and Royal Brompton Hospitals), Respiratory Medicine, Rheumatology, Neurology, Neuro-Rehabilitation, Care of the Elderly, Haematology and Gastroenterology.
