Summary

Primary Teaching Assistant

We are working with a client school in Penarth who are looking for a Primary Teaching Assistant to join their team working with KS2 learners with additional needs. We are looking for a Primary Teaching Assistant on a full-time basis from Monday to Friday between 8.30am-3.30pm.

As a Primary Teaching Assistant you will work with KS2 learners with additional needs helping them throughout the school day. You will be expected to support with personal care if needed depending on the level of needs and this role is working with pupils with profound and multiple learning needs. We are looking for someone with a background in supporting additional needs, but this does not have to be from an education setting as we welcome applications from care sectors and personal ALN experience too!

Requirements for the role: You do not need the Teaching Assistant qualification for this role. We are looking for someone that is confident supporting to KS2 level.

Must have an enhanced child and adult DBS

Must be registered with the Education Workforce Council

Must have a safeguarding level 2 qualification - Free through Teaching Personnel

Must provide 2 employment references

Must be able to learn quickly and be open to guidance and training!

Main Duties:
- Helping the class teacher setting up activities and tasks for the learners
- Supporting with assessments and monitoring how the learners are progressing through their targets.
- Discussing progress and behaviour with parents
- Supporting the learners one on one while they are working through the curriculum.
- Supporting with personal care and feeding where needed.
- Following safeguarding procedures
- General classroom duties including tidying, creating displays and organising learning materials

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
