Primary SEN Support Assistant

Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire

Contract Type: Monday-Friday (Full-Time - 8:30am-3:30pm) -Term Time Only

Day Rate: £84-£95 a day

Are you passionate about education and looking to make a real impact in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs? Veritas Education are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Support Assistants to work in our special schools in Bradford. We have both full-time and part-time positions available to suit your schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the class teacher to support the learning and development of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Provide one-to-one or small group support, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the individual needs of students.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere, ensuring all students feel valued and supported.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to the assessment of student's progress.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, to create a comprehensive support network.
- Be confident with behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
- Assist with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, and mobility.
- Be a fantastic role model and encourage positive behaviour.
- Build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Have good knowledge of the National Curriculum to support students with their learning.
- An optimistic outlook and determination to make a difference to children's education.
- Hard working and flexible to meet the needs of the children.
- Be comfortable and confident supporting children with complex SEN and medical needs.
- Communicate with the children by using PECS, sign language and Makaton.

Requirements:
- Experience supporting adults and/or children with Special Educational Needs is essential.
- Personal experience supporting a family member with SEN/PMLD is also valued.
- Level 2 Team Teach is essential, although this training can be offered by veritas.
- Good knowledge of SEN is essential.
- A moving and handling qualification is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with special needs students.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Candidates must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS upon registration.
- Have proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
