Summary
The Endoscopy Unit at York offers a fast paced working environment within our new purpose built seven roomed endoscopy unit, where we can support you to learn and develop your Endoscopy and Nursing skills.
The department performs upper and lower GI investigations, ERCP, colon capsule, manometry and physiology investigations, bronchoscopy and EBUS procedures. Procedures are performed both diagnostically and therapeutically.
Alongside this we offer a nurse led pre assessment clinic providing assessment and advice to patients pre procedure.
• Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment
• Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
• Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
• Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
• Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct
• Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
• Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures

The successful candidate will be a team player with a strong desire to provide compassionate care and empower others within a friendly and supportive environment. You must be able to work well as part of a team and be able to use your initiative and work well under pressure.
Successful applicants will receive a comprehensive training package, therefore previous endoscopy experience is not essential. Once competent there will be a requirement to take part in the out of hours GI bleed on call service.
Working hours will be between Monday-Sunday 0800 -2000 with a requirement to participate in the on call GI bleed rota once competent.
