Summary
Post Title: Playworker
Rate of Pay: Living Wage
Hours: Term Time: 25 hours per week
7.00 - 9.00 am Monday - Friday
3.00 - 6.00 pm Monday - Friday
Job Purpose:
Working under the general direction of the Manager and Co-ordinator to assist in the running of J’s Out of School club.
Job Responsibilities:
• A clear understanding of Safeguarding children.
• Works within a team environment to organise facilitate and lead a range of play based activities which include arts and crafts, games and other indoor and outdoor activities.
• To work with children between the ages of 3 and 11 in an appropriate nurturing manner with a clear understanding of professional boundaries
• Responsible for the setting up of activities at the beginning of sessions and the clearing away and safe storage at the end of sessions.
• To work as part of a team in preparing and serving food to the children at breakfast and snack time and clearing away afterwards.
• Ensures that equipment is properly maintained and fit for children and staff, prepares activity areas for children and ensures that equipment is fit for purpose.
• To follow J’s Out of School Club policies and procedures with particular reference to the care, health and safety of the children.
• To work closely with and openly communicate with colleagues and actively report any child related concerns.
• Participates in training and development.
• Any other duties as reasonably directed by the Manager or Co-ordinator.
PERSON SPECIFICATION: PLAYWORKER
Essential:
• NVQ level 2/3 in Childcare, Playworker or equivalent
• Good general communication skills with adults and children
• Motivated and able to act on own initiative
• Commitment to Equal Opportunities
• A detailed knowledge of Safeguarding in a childcare setting
• Ability to respond to change positively
• Commitment to personal and organisational development
• The understanding of the Early Years Framework
Desirable:
• First Aid at Work qualification
• Food Hygiene qualification/training
