Summary

My client is looking for an Accounts Assistant to work for a Legal company based in the Barrow-in-Furness area. This is a Full-time Permanent position to start ASAP although they are willing to wait for the right candidate.

You will be required to work the following hours:
9am-5pm (Monday-Thursday)
9am-4.30pm (Friday)

**Salary: £25,000**

To be considered YOU MUST HAVE:

• Previous experience working within Accounts/Finance (Ideally within a Legal firm).
• Hold at least an AAT Level 3 qualification.
• Strong Microsoft IT skills with a good working knowledge of spreadsheets and the use of internet banking systems.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Clear and professional communication skills – both over the phone and face to face.

Purpose of the Position:

To conduct Accounts Office work, mainly the processing of payments and associated tasks.
To assist in the smooth running of the account’s office in accordance with SRA Rules.

Your Duties will include:

• To assist with checking and processing of all payments, receipts, bills, transfers, and automated items on bank statement, posting onto database and nominal ledgers and allocating accounting codes, operation of a purchase ledger system. Perform general housekeeping, ensure all entries are posted correctly, with diligence.
• To set up new suppliers on the database.
• To maintain petty cash on request.
• To assist with dealing with accounts queries from staff, accountants, and the Bank.
• To prepare and pay in banking for the office on a daily basis.
• To transfer monies between bank accounts as appropriate.
• To print cheques on request and for payment of invoices due and obtain signatures and distribute accordingly daily.
• To make electronic payments using our online banking system.
• To reconcile client and office accounts to the bank statements.
• To maintain a ledger for each client matter, liaise with the fee earners regarding queries.
• To ensure errors are dealt with efficiently and an audit trail can be followed.
