Summary


An exciting opportunity have arisen for someone looking to progress their career and become a Hospital Ambulance Liaison Officer (HALO) in the South East of area of SCAS.

The HALO role is a vital position in the support, management, and liaison between SCAS and Hospital teams. You will become a key player and pivotal link between the ambulance service and external stakeholders, while liaising as part of the command structure and control centers. As a highly visible ambassador for the Trust you will be expected to demonstrate and champion the behaviours linked to the key values of: Team Working, Caring, Innovation and Professionalism.

We are seeking 1 candidates: based at North Harbour Resource Centre. This role is full time working a bespoke rota.

Main duties of the role

The HALO will be an effective and proactive liaison between external stakeholders, Hospital Trusts and SCAS, and while in liaison with duty commanders, be responsible for the safe and effective management of patients and staff during times of ambulance holding to maximise service delivery.

You must be a team player, accept responsibility, demonstrate accountability and be a confident decision maker. You will possess good interpersonal and communications skills. You will need to be competent in basic IT skills and capable of logical thinking, practical problem-solving, objective assessment skills and report writing.

To act as a point of contact between South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust (SCAS) U & E service and Acute Hospital Trusts within a given locality. There may be a requirement to travel to other sites across the wider SCAS environment.

To be an on-site presence to respond to and resolve issues and matters concerning U & E Operations.

To liaise with ED staff and attend meetings as required to provide SCAS representation and assist in the efficient and effective patient flow within the hospital environment.

To be an ambassador when representing SCAS by acting in a professional and positive manner ensuring the Trust’s values are adhered to at all times.

To liaise regularly with SCAS CCC, Operational and Tactical Commanders to provide accurate updates and information.

To record and report adverse events and incidents affecting patient safety and crew wellbeing.

To utilise the current monitoring and recording process while multiple ambulances are unable to offload.
