Summary

Our client a heat producing energy company are seeking a power plant operative for their site in Redruth.

What we offer:

• Full time hours.
• 40H a week.
• 22 days annual leave.

The role:

• The role is an exciting opportunity and will involve learning how the first alternative heat energy power plant in the UK will operate and take responsibility for operations at the end of construction in late 2024.
• The candidate will be perfectly positioned to take on the Plant Manger responsibilities and be responsible for a small team of operators.

Responsibilities:

• Managing all Electrical, Mechanical and Administration required to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted running of the Power Plant.
• Preparing daily and weekly production reports and escalating to internal and external stakeholders.
• Understanding errors and malfunctions determined in the controls and undertaking action for resolution.
• Correct and create work procedures and instructions.
• Managing the need of consumables and spare parts for the power plant
• Ensuring the machinery and equipment are periodically maintained and repaired.
• Implementation and supervision of occupational safety and health rules in all task processes
• Management of electricity generation in accordance with regulations and standards.
• Participation in studies to raise awareness about resource and energy consumption, waste generation, environmental cleanliness, and order.
• Work collaboratively with all departments including construction, drilling, and community engagement teams.
• Collaborate with the technology provider, Exergy.
• Appropriate Health and Safety management.
• Additional ad hoc duties as and when required.

Requirements:

Essential:

• Degree in either Electrical-Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or Energy Engineering or equivalent.
• Able to read and interpret process, mechanical and electrical project drawings.
• Experienced in fault resolution and troubleshooting.
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Advanced communication skills – verbal and written.
• A keen eye for detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work on own or as part of a team.
• Able to stay calm in any situation.
• Keen interest in learning about renewable energy and associated technology.
• Time management skills
• A full UK driving license.

Desirable:

• At least 3 years’ experience in the field of Electricity Generation Facilities.
• Interest in renewable energy and Cornwall’s move to net zero carbon by 2030.
• Ability to learn new processes and apply these to company strategy in a fast-moving environment.
• Capable of working to tight deadlines and budgets.
• Available for night shift on call.
