At University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust patients are at the centre of all we do.

We are part of a modern laboratory within Derbyshire Pathology, a joint venture for Derby, Burton and Chesterfield so this post will require cross site working.

If you are an experienced Biomedical Scientist and would relish a new challenge, then we would love to hear from you. This is an exciting time to become a Team Leader on a permanent basis.

Key Requirements of the role:
• HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist.
• Specialist Portfolio or equivalent experience.
• MSc or equivalent qualification.
• Advanced experience of microbiology.
• Knowledge of recognition and identification of bacteria and other micro-organisms.
• Flexibility in your approach as there is the requirement to work out of hours and weekends.
• Excellent communication skills together with excellent organisational skills are essential requirements for this post.
• Excellent values and behaviour in line with our values; Compassion, Openness and Excellence.
• Responsible for management of a technical section within the Department, directing the work of the other scientific and support staff in the day to day analytical provision of a high quality, cost effective service.
• Provides and coordinates specialist clinical technical services including research and audit.
• Developing the section in line with departmental objectives.
• To provide a lead role in the training and instruction of staff within their section.
