Summary


The post holder will be responsible forproviding a comprehensive administrative support service to the Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT),facilitating the needs of all team members inproviding a robust and efficient infection control service across the Trust.


Maintaining Excel spreadsheets of patient information & clinical results and generating reports from them.

Meeting administration (setting dates, booking rooms, sending out papers, taking minutes and communicating with attendees) for Quarterly Infection Control Committee Meetings, Quarterly Strategic Decontamination Group Meetings, Quarterly Infection Control Link Practitioner Meetings and Quarterly Antimicrobial Steering Group meetings.

Analysing data to inform content of quarterly and annual reports.

Flagging patient’s CRS records with alert organism results.

Data collation, entry and analysis for Surgical Site Infection Surveillance and any other surveillance programmes implemented.

Data entry and analysis for antimicrobials consumption.

Provide administrative support to Microbiology Consultants and Antimicrobial Pharmacists for ITU rounds, clinical audits, and antimicrobial stewardship.

Managing the FFP3 mask-fitting service, coordinating staff appointments and liaising with the fit tester.

Managing telephone enquiries as appropriate for Infection Control or Microbiology as required.

To maintain team diaries as required.

Photocopying, scanning, and filing letters and documents as required.



The Infection Prevention and Control Team comprises two band 8a Clinical nurse specialists in infection prevention control, one band 6 infection control nurse and one band 5 infection control audit and surveillance nurse. There are five consultant microbiologists. The nursing team share an open plan office with the two OPAT nurses team and the two antimicrobial pharmacists. The team are well established and very supportive of each other, and work in close collaboration with all ward and departments to facilitate safe patient care in a safe environment.

The post holder will be responsible for the management of the administration function across the service.

The post holder will be responsible forproviding a comprehensive administrative support service to the Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT),facilitating the needs of all team members inproviding a robust and efficient infection control service across the Trust.

The post holder will be the point of contact for the administrative function within the clinical service. The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will provide support by ensuring that information systems are kept updated and accurate, liaising as appropriate with staff in the hospital, ensuring the administrative processes are safely managed and efficient.

The post holder will ensure high levels of patient and clinician satisfaction by being an accessible, customer focussed and knowledgeable point of contact.
