An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic midwife to coordinate our bereavement and pregnancy loss services for women at Whipps Cross Hospital. We are looking for a highly motivated practitioner who has 2 years post registration experience, of which 1 year is in the acute Intrapartum setting. You will be expected to provide the highest standard in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised, holistic care to women who have suffered pregnancy loss in conjunction with the inter-professional team.


You will have good interpersonal skills and be competent in supporting women and staff during difficult circumstances. You will act as a professional role model and clinical teacher and have the passion and commitment to provide high quality care for women.

The Specialist Midwife should be an expert practitioner and have responsibility along withthe partner specialist bereavement midwife for the provision of care, support andpractical advice to women/ pregnant people and their families experiencing pregnancy loss and the death of ababy. The post holder will work alongside our existing Specialist Bereavement Midwife to ensure the provision and development of a 7-day bereavement service at Whipps Cross Hospital. The working hours will be Monday to Sunday 9-5pm The post will be divided between 0.6 bereavement and 0.4 clinical.

You will be responsible for ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures maintaining associated records. Utilising clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching, they will monitor and improve standards of care by efficient and effective use of resources. To ensure that the reporting requirements of CNST standard 1 for MBRRACE and PMRT are met as per National agenda and guidance.

To provide personalized care and support to all women/ pregnant people accessing our services within the community for antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care. They will also provide oversight and support to our early gynaecology unit. The post holder is expected to be able to facilitate evidenced based informed choice, as well as respect for their decision at every stage of the pregnancy journey regardless of medical needs or otherwise.
