Maybury Primary School is a new school in the west of Edinburgh which is due to open
in August 2024. In its first year, the school will have Primary One children and an early
learning and childcare setting opening in January 2025.  Within the school, there are
modern, flexible and creative learning spaces for up to 630 learners, along with our
early learning and childcare setting which has a capacity for 124 children across a mix
of term-time and full-year places.

Maybury Primary School will be Edinburgh’s first school to share a campus with a
medical centre as part of Maybury Community Hub. Sustainability and outdoor
learning are central features of the building design, and these will be brought to life as
a key part of our learning experiences.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and enthusiastic teacher to come and join
our senior leadership team to work closely with the Head Teacher to bring the school
to life in the heart of a new community. The Principal Teacher will also deputise in the
Head Teacher’s absence.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication
skills and share a passion for developing and ensuring the highest possible quality of
learning across the school.  They will be required to model high standards of pedagogy to inspire, motivate and support colleagues in the development of their own classroom practice.

The successful candidate will have:
• previous leadership experience – including successfully undertaken at least
some of the responsibilities associated with the post of Principal Teacher
• excellent pedagogical knowledge and a depth of exemplary teaching
experience across all stages
• commitment to continuous improvement
• ability to motivate, guide and lead others
• experience of leading learning and improvement
• knowledge of how to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders to bring
about improvement
• skilled interactions when dealing with children, colleagues, parent and partners

Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check.
