About the service user:

P is a man in his 30's with a profound learning disability; he is non verbal and communicates informally through eye pointing, body language and vocalisation. (Although he is not always easy to understand so some detective work is necessary!). He is a full time wheelchair user, although is happiest when lounging on his sofa. He enjoys country walks and getting out in nature but can also be found catching up on his favourite tv programmes. He can experience periods of dysregulation and pain and needs timely support to get back to his happy self. Ps support team is managed by his family.


Hours and rates of pay:

£12.00 hourly rate

£80.00 Sleep in rate5.6 weeks annual leave (pro rata )

We operate on a Week A/Week B system, sleep-in runs 22:30-07:30

Position one : £1296 ( paid 4 weekly ) Week A: Friday 18:30 - Saturday 16:30 Week B: Tuesday 18:30-Wednesday 16:30 Sunday 14:30-Monday 07:30

Position Two: £1128( paid 4 weekly )Week A: Wednesday 16:30 - Thursday 07:30 Sunday 14.30 -Monday 07:30 Week B: Saturday 16:30 - Sunday 14:30


The day to day role:

You will be supporting P with all aspects of his day, he requires full support for all tasks including showering, personal care and medication, a ceiling track hoist is used for all transfers . P lives in his own home so cleaning and general household tasks are part of the role, as well as food preparation. Some days are at a slower pace and may include spending time at home , whilst other days you may find yourself going for a lovely walk along the Huntingdon riverside.

The person we are looking for

You must be patient, supportive and caring be confident in working alone and able to work on your own initiative. You need to have experience of working in a caring role , ideally supporting people in their own home . Applications are welcome from people who have worked with young people with additional needs . You must be available for the sleep-in shifts and have some flexibility to cover annual leave and sickness . An enhanced DBS is required for this role .
