About the Role

Base Location: Flexible UK, however we will need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSEN offices or depots around the UK which includes, but is not limited to: Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Portsmouth or Poole.

Salary: £55,200 - £83,000 (depending on skill and experience) + performance-related bonus and a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

As OT Telecoms Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for the ongoing management and development of the telecommunications systems across Distribution assets. You'll ensure the diverse range of operational technology telecoms assets are both resilient and secure and will therefore be required to identify and deploy best practice solutions through long term investment planning and ongoing asset support and development.

Key responsibilities in this role will include:

- Ensure that new telecoms procedures, policies and designs are adequately risk assessed and appropriate mitigation is in place.

- Develop, review, and update existing operational technology policy and procedures for telecommunications platforms to support all SSEN owned or operated networks from LV to 132kV.

- Leading, developing and delivering on future telecoms support models.

- Asset Management of our communication systems, ensuring satisfactory performance, whilst finding ways to reduce risk and balance cost through the continuous improvement of processes.

- Represent Distribution as a technical expert at UK wide industry forums & working parties (Electricity Networks Association, Ofcom, JRC, etc.) and contribute to the development of new/revised Engineering Recommendations, Engineering Technical Reports as well as respond and contribute to discussions and consultations hosted by OFGEM, OFCOM, DECC, National Grid in relation to areas of responsibility above.

What do I Need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Experience of managing a team within an operational technology or telecoms environment with a track record of successful delivery.

- Strong understanding of statutory, regulatory & license requirements, industry wide codes, network and engineering standards.

- Previous industry experience and an understanding of governance applied to safety critical engineering processes, risk assessment and mitigation processes with the ability to develop and implement engineering strategy and a proven record of implementing new ideas.

- Working knowledge in multiple telecoms systems and associated architecture in some or all of the following; Microwave, Fibre, Data Networking, TSAT, VSAT, Scanning Radio, LTE, PMR, GPRS, PDH/SDH Mux, meshed networks.

- Excellent communication, influencing and problem solving skills with proven experience of working with senior stakeholders.
