Summary

Full time/part time to include both days/ sleep-in nights and alternative weekends.

The home provides accommodation and support for 15 residents, both male and female with a range of mental health problems, who are unable to live independently. We can take adults of a range of ages as long as it is a suitable placement.

We aim for Arundel to be “home from home” where residents can feel at ease in a friendly, secure, and relaxed environment. We strive to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality and privacy of our residents and remain sensitive to each person’s ever-changing needs.

Support worker role:

• Provide person centred care.
• Provide safe, competent, and ethical care.
• Support, protect and safeguard Service Users rights and interests.
• Protect and safeguard Service Users against abuse.
• Carry out interventions according to care plans
• Demonstrate a holistic philosophy of care
• Recognise and report changes in Service Users’ circumstances that pose a potential or actual threat to the client’s health, safety, security and well-being or the health, safety, security and well-being of others.
• Understand and work with-in the Acts and Regulations
• Practice in accordance with required infection control/standard precautions
• Practice in accordance with the organisations policies and procedures
• Report Health and Safety concerns/issues to the appropriate person
• Practice in accordance with required fire safety regulations


The duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Promoting independence and enabling service users to do as much as possible themselves
• Enabling Service Users to undertake daily living tasks
• Responding to emergencies where appropriate/required
• Aiding with personal care such as grooming, dressing/undressing, bathing, eating, toileting/continence care and nail care, etc.
• Assisting Service users with mobility such as turning and positioning in bed/chair and transferring
• Ensuring all records are kept up to date and are filled in correctly
• Reporting any concerns to the appropriate person
• Attending appointments with service users
• Domestic duties such as cleaning rooms, cleaning windows, cleaning toilets, mopping floors, cleaning communal areas, ironing, and attending to laundry.
• Preparing and serving meals. Cleaning up after meals
• Aiding with using the phone social/recreational/leisure activities
• Administering medications and keeping accurate records of this. (Only staff who have been trained can administer medications)
• Assisting with new members of the staff team
• Being key worker to a service user(s)
• Maintaining knowledge of and demonstrating the safe use of care equipment and supplies
• Attending regular training sessions and ensuring your training is kept up to date
• Following the homes policies and procedures
• Attending regular staff meetings
• Working as part of a team by respecting and acknowledging the roles of all those involved with-in the staff team
• Assisting in the development and implementation of Service Users care plans
