BIM Coordinator (Bentley MEP)

As a BIM Coordinator you will take the leading key role in setting and implementing the design and delivery process as well as an important role in the implementation of the project execution strategy, ensuring all BIM outputs are produced to a high standard.

The BIM Coordinator is part of the Engineering Directorate and is accountable for BIM coordination on the project.

Based in our London office.

Job description

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Assist the BIM Manager, BIM Technicians and the wider project team in the best way to utilise BIM software including AECOsim / OpenBuildings and Microstation on the project.
Assist the BIM Manager in developing workflows and procedures in compliance with project and industry BIM standards.
Carry out regular BIM Coordination Meetings with the project team.
Coordinates the CAD/3D model and established agreed workflows.
Implementing collaborative processes and procedures in accordance with the BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).
Proactively manage and resolve model clashes through Bentley iTwin Clash Detection, facilitating resolution meetings and tracking / reporting on issue resolution.
Leads efforts in model validation and verification to ensure adherence to the project and industry standards, including conducting regular audits of the BIM data against the BIM Execution Plan (BEP) requirements.
Ensure the efficient organisation, storage, access, and revision control of project documentation, models, and other BIM data in compliance with the project's CDE protocols.
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among all project stakeholders, including design teams, contractors, and client representatives, to ensure BIM objectives are understood and met.
Identify training needs and opportunities for the project team to ensure all members are proficient in the relevant BIM software and processes.
Explore and integrate innovative BIM technologies and processes to improve project delivery efficiency. Contribute to the development of the project's BIM standards and procedures based on lessons learned and industry best practices.
Coordinate with GIS specialists to ensure seamless integration of GIS data with BIM models, enhancing the project's spatial data management and analysis capabilities.

Skills and experience

BIM Coordinator / Senior Technician with at least 5 years’ experience in major infrastructure/transportation projects.
Experience of delivering projects to UK BIM Standards including ISO 19650.
Proficient in using Bentley software including ProjectWise, MicroStation, OpenRail Designer, AecoSIM/OpenBuilding Designer and Synchro.
Expertise in Bentley iTwin for clash detection, with a track record of efficiently resolving complex model conflicts.
Experience of working in an engineering production environment.
A railway, transportation or construction background.
A clear understanding of our multi-disciplinary design approach and the delivery of projects to a high quality, throughout all design stage gates.
Good knowledge of UK design standards, such as Network Rail, HS2 and TfL.
Experience in producing, checking, and validating deliverables against project standards (including suitability for use in Project Information Model (PIM) and Asset Information Model (AIM) environments).
Experience working with BEPs, Task Information Delivery Plans (TIDP), MIDP & MPDT.
