The Opportunity

The Project Design Engineer involves technical modelling support for key projects which deliver income targets and maintain client relationships for projects. The role will monitor income and work closely with colleagues across the Council and partners to market services externally.

Evidence of providing technical and modelling support to ensure successful project delivery and working collaboratively to design and deliver joint objectives, is key to success in this role.

Accountabilities

Supporting the Project Delivery Manager with on-site supervision of scheme delivery on behalf of the Council, for Capital, and other schemes led by Operational Delivery. Working collaboratively to ensure these are delivered to specification, on time, in budget and in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations.

Build good working relationships with customers, continually seeking feedback to ensure services meet expectations and identifying improvements to develop a continuous learning environment.

Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.

The Experience You Will Bring

Educated to degree level in a related subject or equivalent proven experience in the field of surface water management. 

Evidence of continuous professional development with expert knowledge in professional area, with membership of an appropriate professional body.

Knowledge and understanding of Flood Risk Management, Land Drainage, Asset Management and the responsibilities of the LLFA.

Demonstrable experience of commissioning, managing multiple consultants and contractors, with an ability to build, create and manage effective multi-agency partnerships with the private sector.

Project management experience, with evidence of successful delivery, including procurement, mandates and legal process.

Highly developed communication skills, with evidence of preparing and presenting clear reports and consultations.

Knowledge of data and asset management, local planning system, legislation and using hydraulic modelling utilising software packages e.g. Micro Drainage. 

Significant expertise in the field of partnership working, formulating plans and strategies, identifying synergies across organisations and the development and implementation of work programmes.

Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
