Summary

Salary: Grade 1 - £12.00 per hour
Roles:
1 x Permanent role, part time shifts on a 2-week rota pattern working alternate weekends.
Week 1 - Saturday 10am – 4.45pm, Sunday 10am – 4.45pm.
Week 2 – No contractual shifts.
1 x Permanent Flexible Contract - Working 10am – 4.45pm, mainly Friday, Saturday and Sunday’s – minimum 2 shifts per month with

Additional shifts available for both roles to cover school holidays and annual leave etc.

Location: The National Museum of the Royal Navy, HMS Caroline, Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The National Museum of the Royal Navy’s vision is to be the world’s most inspiring Naval Museum: inspiring learning, enjoyment, and engagement with the story of the Royal Navy and its impact in shaping the modern world.
HMS Caroline forms an important part of the National Museum’s visitor offer and collection as the last survivor of the Battle of Jutland that is still afloat. Open to the public as a museum and heritage attraction since 2016 and an Art Fund ‘Museum of the Year’ finalist in 2019, this iconic ship is an asset to Belfast’s cultural landscape.
This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are looking for a customer facing role within a unique heritage environment. You will bring history to life, delivering interesting and high-quality guided tours of HMS Caroline to groups for part of the year and aiding self-guided free-flow access to the ship during the holidays.
You will play an important part in providing an enjoyable visitor experience whilst ensuring the ship remains a safe and secure environment for those visiting. Aiding the financial sustainability of HMS Caroline, Team Members will also upsell guidebook and retail products, contributing towards shared financial targets.

Knowledge/Experience

You will need to be confident communicating to large groups as well as individual visitors
Experience of working in a customer facing environment with knowledge of the ship an advantage
Display an interest in developing knowledge of the Royal Navy’s stories and heritage to share with visitors and colleagues
Basic knowledge of health and safety requirements and a willingness to learn more.
