Summary
Main Purpose of Job - Under supervision to recommend and dispense spectacles, ensuring all patients receive excellent clinical care, dispensing advice and customer service, whilst working closely with the Optometrist.
Main Duties
• Interpret optical prescriptions written by optometrists.
• Maintain current ophthalmic lens and frame knowledge to enable patients to receive the best advice on lens type, frames and styling.
• Take frame and facial measurements to ensure correct fit and positioning. For patients who are under 16, sight impaired or severely sight impaired this should be checked and recorded by a qualified Dispensing Optician or Optometrist.
• Have knowledge of contact lenses and LVA to be able to advise patients on their use
• Advise patients when adjustments and repairs to spectacles are needed.
• Be competent at all fittings, adjustments and repairs
• Liaise with sales representatives when required
• Be competent neutralising, ordering and checking of all optical appliances
• Work with the Team to provide a high standard of customer service
• Carry out pre-screening examinations and working alongside the wider team in the day to day running of clinics.
• Be competent in completing occupational task analysis
• Work towards successful monthly KPI figures.
• Ensure accurate recording of patient information.
• Know when to refer on to another professional within the company
• Opening and closing practice including preparing rooms and cleaning equipment.
