Blaby District Council are looking for an enthusiastic team player to lead our Licensing and Animal Welfare Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a licensing team of four officers and deal with a wide variety of licensing and animal welfare matters.

This is a fast-paced service and no two days are ever the same. You will have the knowledge and experience to prepare, update and implement policies and procedures, deal with enquiries and complaints, and undertake enforcement action where required. Accuracy and attention to detail is crucial, given the important role that licensing plays in ensuring public safety as well as a proven ability to deal with difficult customers in a calm manner.

We are seeking an individual who can effectively prioritise their workload against targets and meet deadlines and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrating a practical approach to problem solving with good negotiation or mediation skills will be advantageous to resolve challenging or difficult situations.

You will have a passion for what you do and be motivated to take pride in delivering a high-quality service.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of Licensing legislation and procedures in a Local Authority, experience of working in a customer focussed environment and be able to work on their own initiative.

Further details about the role can be found on the job description and person specification.

Home working will form part of this role as well as working in the office on a rota basis.

This role will require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (known as a DBS check). All offers of employment will be made conditional upon receipt of the satisfactory DBS check.
