Summary


Applications are invited for suitably qualified individuals for a Locum Consultant General Surgeon in the Division of Surgery, General Surgery care group with clinical duties mainly based at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital site. This post is to cover sick leave of a consultant colleague. As well as a busy Specialist Colorectal practise there is also an Emergency General Surgery rota covering acute admissions to the RLH site, emergency support for the Liverpool Women’s Hospital and Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. There is also an elective General Surgery component to the practise, including Day Case Surgery, on the BGH site.

The post-holder will be expected to take on duties and commitments at the level of a senior registrar. Successful candidate will be expected to work between RLUH, BGH and Aintree University Hospital to gain maximum surgical and clinical experience. The on-call commitment will be at the Royal and Broadgreen site as a surgical registrar.

The post holder will have a slot on the 1:13 general surgery on-call rota and 1:6 colorectal on-call. If the candidate has full or provisional JAG accreditation, they may be asked to provide some endoscopy sessions, this will be negotiated with the individual depending on experience.
