Summary


This is an exciting opportunity to join WTWA growing Estates and Facilities team as manager of the Catering service.

Trafford General Hospital is part of Manchester Foundation Trust and the Facilities staff employed provide an integral service to the smooth running of the hospital. We are looking for someone to help us to continue to deliver excellent support services to our hospital sites.

The post holder will act as the operational catering lead within Facilities Management (FM) at Trafford General Hospital but will work across sites under the hospitals within WTWA with main base being Trafford . The post holder will ensure that the services are managed in line with the strategy and plan for FM across the Trust. At the core of the role will be the responsibility to ensure that the services have adequate resources, including skills and expertise, to ensure a safe, secure and high-quality patient environment is provided by the Trust.

Demonstrating a patient focused approach to the delivery of FM services, the post holder will ensure the cost-effective delivery of high-quality services that compliment and facilitate patient care. The post holder will be part of the senior FM management team and will be expected to be involved in managing across other locations. FM services operate 24/7.

A high degree of flexible working is required to ensure services are operating effectively. This will mean that there will be possible occasional late finishes and weekend working.

1.To provide strong, visible and accessible leadership and management for staff within the services.
2. To ensure the efficient management and delivery of services and to be responsive to patients, staff and visitors’ requirements.
3. To ensure responsibilities are well defined for all managed staff.
4. To be responsible for the management of staff in Catering and Facilities Services.
5. Manage the recruitment selection and development of staff to ensure that the services have the right staff resources and staff mix.
6. To ensure that optimum staffing levels across services are maintained at all times using innovative technology where available to accurately assess capacity and demand for services.
7. Ensure annual appraisal of all staff is completed within appraisal windows and undertake appraisal with direct reports.
8. Manage sickness absence and take appropriate management action when necessary in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
9.Take appropriate action when necessary in accordance with the Trust’s Conduct and Disciplinary Policy.
10. To ensure that all staff follow the Trust Values and Behaviours Policy.
