Summary


We are looking for an experiencing Mental Health Practitioner to join our fast-growing fast-paced Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) in Mid Essex.

MHSTs are a new service designed to help meet the mental health needs of children and young people in education settings. The teams build on the support already in place from school counsellors, nurses, educational psychologists and the voluntary sector to support children with mild to moderate emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties in school and will help children and young people with more severe needs to access the right support and provide a link to the NHS.


MHSTs are informed by the CYP-IAPT principles of accessibility, participation, evidence-based practice, accountability and awareness.



The post holder will work with and support the MHST Operational Manager and the current Locality Clinical Lead with development of the team.

Ensuring support is provided across the localities to the delivery of EMHP skills and facilitate wider service transformation within the local children’s mental health system.

The post holder will be expected to hold a small case load of cases with moderate levels of complexity.

Work in partnership with schools, to support children, young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their families in the self-management of presenting difficulties.

Work in partnership with schools, children, young people, and families in the development of plans for the intervention and agreed outcomes.

To oversee the formulation and treatment and management plans for schools, parents, children, and young people being supported by the senior team members.

Under the direction of the Clinical & Strategic Lead, to support the strategic and practical development of the MHST initiative within the service and wider children’s mental health system.

To triage referrals and manage any waiting lists for assessment and therapeutic intervention effectively.

Responsible for the caseload management & supervision of MHST practitioners within Mid Essex.

Provide supervision using a CBT framework .

Conducting clinical audits and evaluating research data to inform the delivery and development of clinical services.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Base

This post requires the successful applicant to work agilely between NELFT sites and educational settings. For applicant to have the ability to work independently is an important factor. Some travel around the county is also expected. The nominated base for Mid Essex is Stapleford House in Chelmsford.
