Summary


A vacancy has arisen for a full time Medical Secretary to work in Children's Services at St James' House, Pendleton Way, Salford.

You will provide a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to the Consultant Paediatricians and Registrars and activity related to this Children’s Outpatient service.

You will take the lead in organising and co-ordinating information required by clinicians to support the work of safeguarding and child protection

You will ensure there are open communication channels and be the co-ordinator to facilitate and convene meetings for all partner organisations, e.g. education, social service. You will support medics, operational managers and administration colleagues in meeting departmental objectives.

Some of the duties include:
• Typing of clinical outcome letters and reports.
• Typing of non-clinical work as and when requested.
• Chasing resultsas required and alerting the appropriate consultant promptly to referrals, x-rays and other diagnostic results arriving in the department.
• Provide diary management for the clinician organising appointments/meetings.
• Participate in management of Child Protection Medicals.
• Proactively managing telephone calls by providing general non-clinical advice, guidance and information, many of which will be of a sensitive nature.
• Accurate minute taking at relevant meetings distributing a record in a timely manner and ensuring actions are followed up.
• Arrange and attend consultant meetings as when required.
• Management of patient wait lists/booking of appointments as required.
• Booking of Interpreters as required.
