Summary


To assist the registered nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care and provide support to the patient’s family.

It is desirable that applicants have a relevant NVQ level 3 (or a willingness to undertake this)

This post involves shift work over 7 days and rotation onto nights if required.

At the direction of the Registered Nurse participate fully in the delivery of planned nursing care and following competency assessment use advanced clinical skills such as venepuncture, catheterisation aseptic technique, wound care ,peg feeds and syringe driver monitoring

Participate in the ongoing assessment of patients care needs

Assist the RGN in the evaluation of care and maintain accurate patients charts as appropriate

Involve patients and carers/relatives in the delivery of care.

Provide reassurance support to patients and carers/families.

Work collaboratively with others in the hospice to ensure that patient’s needs are met.

Recognise and respond appropriately to difficult situations.

Undertake transfer and escort of patients as appropriate
