Summary

We have an exciting opportunity in the University of Sheffield.

We are looking for a Research Associate with a background in biological chemistry: Bioconjugation of proteins, Peptide synthesis, and Chemistry of biological building blocks (amino acids, DNA, lipids). The post is for a new and exciting interdisciplinary project aiming at revolutionising the way we measure and understand proton transfer in biology and utilising proton transfer reactions across proteins for sustainability purposes.

The project is part of a funded ERC project, which will give the Research Associate the freedom and responsibility to establish a new facility for bioconjugation within the group, responsible for all chemistry-related topics. You will also be given the freedom to pursue novel independent directions in the context of the research group. The position is fully funded for at least 3 years.

The setting of the research group is highly interdisciplinary, and in addition to the primarily Chemistry work related to this job, it can include biological work (protein expression), ultrafast spectroscopy measurements, and even bioelectronic measurements.

You will benefit from an excellent mentorship and career development plan. For the long term, Research Associate will also experience mentorship of graduate students
We are looking for someone with a PhD or an equivalent experience in a biochemical/Biotechnological-related field such as biology, biotechnology, or chemistry.

You should have experience in
● Peptide synthesis
● Polymer Chemistry
● Bioconjugation of proteins
● Organic synthesis of biomolecular probes
● Providing mentoring & supporting MSc & PhD Students
