Summary

Job Purpose Business intelligence and analytics is pivotal to the delivery of high-quality efficient healthcare provision. The Business Intelligence Team provides analysis and insights to support the Trust in using information to support effective decision making, ensuring that they make the best use of resources, understand performance and provide the information required to enable them to focus on areas of greatest opportunity. The Business Intelligence partner will be allocated to one of 3 areas within the Trust and will work directly alongside the Divisional/Unit leadership teams. They will play a key role in visualising and analysing data in a meaningful and insightful way to ensure data is at the heart of all decision making, enabling better outcomes that make a real difference to people. They will be the first point of contact for their Division/Unit for all BI requirements, receiving all requests and managing through to delivery. The post-holder will have a high degree of autonomy within their area of responsibility working with their division to prioritise work requests within available resources. The post-holder will have excellent customer service skills and exhibit a can-do attitude. This role will offer opportunities to set the standards and lead on the use of data and information throughout the Trust in order to bring business intelligence and data analytics to the forefront of shaping patient care. They will be responsible for developing forecasting capability through predictive analytics. The post-holder will be expected to provide cross-cover for other BI teams as required. This is a new post and post-holders are expected to be flexible in their approach to the needs of the service. Main Duties and Responsibilities Work directly with Division to gather requirements, prioritise work packages and then design, develop and implement resultant Business Intelligence Solutions. Providing users with seamless access to information to support service delivery, improvement and management. Responsible and accountable for the service delivery, maintenance and continual improvement of a fit for purpose complex Data Warehouse. Develop/update interfaces between systems as required, ensure interfaces to and feeds from all systems are maintained at all times. Manage the integrity of the systems by monitoring the performance of the network and the database software, and by monitoring data entry, devising rigorous error trapping techniques and running regular data quality reports. Upgrade systems when required, including testing of the databases and the interface(s). Ensure appropriate technical documentation is created and maintained using change control processes. Responsible for the weekly/bi-monthly processes to produce invoicing files for the Commissioning Team and SUS files for submission. Work closely with the Commissioning Team to incorporate any charging and billing changes into the Monitoring Process. Ensure the annual updates to HRGs and Tariffs are applied and tested in a timely manner. Responsible for data quality of SUS submissions. Continually develop the information and business intelligence provision, working closely with their Divisional leadership to capture key business requirements and foster an intelligence lead culture. Engaging with multiple stakeholders; responsible for the development, preparation and maintenance of high quality, timely and accurate intelligence provision and analytical services to ensure managers, clinicians and operational staff have the information required to deliver a high quality, safe, patient focused service. Lead/Develop toolkits, reports and dashboards that directly address Divisional and wider organisational requirements to provide evidence based information that enable hindsight, insights and foresight. Supporting the operational and strategic decision-making process through the provision of focused business intelligence, including, providing leadership on capacity planning and modelling to support service developments and performance objectives. Working pro-actively to ensure the Trust is aware of the impact on information through business developments and process changes whilst conversely ensuring that operational leaders are fully aware of changes and developments in information systems, policies, and software.
