Summary

A Vacancy at Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust.

A CAP is a semi-autonomous psychological practitioner working under the direct supervision of an experienced and HCPC registered clinical psychologist, within their scope of practice. CAPs are scientist-practitioners who utilise psychological knowledge, research and theory to reduce psychological distress and enhance psychological wellbeing in the clients they work with. The post holder will be responsible for assisting in providing highly specialist psychology services to adults with learning disabilities, their families and paid carers.

The MHLD service is divided into two hubs across Kent and Medway, both comprising psychology, psychiatry and specialist nursing staff. We are looking for a Clinical Associate Psychologist to work within the MHLD psychology team in West Kent, which includes experienced Clinical Psychologists, a Behaviour Specialist, and a Clinical Associate Psychologist. Everyone in the team is committed and passionate with a strong, shared values base: placing the person with learning disabilities at the centre. We also work hard to ensure the needs of families and paid carers are addressed and systemic and narrative approaches are central to much of our work.

The post-holder will work semi-autonomously alongside MHLD colleagues. The role will involve provision of psychological therapy, Positive Behaviour Support, and delivering training. The role also involves monitoring and evaluation. The post holder will work in collaboration with colleagues, service users, carers, Community Learning Disability Teams and other services and partner organisations towards the overall provision of evidence based, cost effective, direct and indirect interventions, providing clinical leadership, assisting in service development, and contributing to decision-making processes, also offering highly specialist advice, guidance and consultation.

Come and work with us in the Garden of England where we combine exceptional professional development opportunities with a tremendous quality of life.

We are Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT), providing mental health, learning disability and specialist services, serving 1.8 million people across the county.

The Trust (rated Good overall by the CQC and Outstanding for care) has 3,283 staff working in 66 buildings across 33 locations, covering an area of 1,450 square miles.

You will be joining friendly, passionate colleagues, rich in their diversity, who are committed to providing excellent care to our service users and their loved ones.

The nature of our work attracts kindness and compassion as standard and everyone from our cleaners and porters to the chief executive and chairman are recognised as playing a vital role in providing an exemplary service.

Please refer to the attached job description for full details and main responsibilities of the role.
