Summary


Our friendly and dynamic team of Orthoptists at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, warmly welcome an individual with some experience in Paediatric and Adult Orthoptics who wishes to develop their skills and knowledge in Orthoptics and Ophthalmology.

Addenbrooke’s Hospital is a large teaching hospital and a research centre with strong affiliations with Cambridge University. It has a rich history of breaking the barriers of modern medicine and providing compassionate care for the patients. You will work closely with nine Orthoptists and four Paediatric and Adult Strabismus Consultants.

You will have a varied and interesting workload with the opportunity to work alongside ophthalmologists who are experts in their field including strabismus, paediatric-ophthalmology, neuro-ophthalmology and more. You may have the opportunity to gain experience in an extended role clinics and participate in our weekly teaching sessions. The role will include single-handed clinics at our community paediatric sites as well as at Addenbrooke’s Hospital which is a tertiary referral centre. Excellent training, mentoring and career progression opportunities are provided.
• Provide timely Paediatric and Adult Orthoptic Services at Addenbrooke’s NHS Trust and off site Community Services, including specialist Orthoptic services.
• Participate in extended Orthoptic Clinical roles.
• Personally deliver clinical supervision and instruction to Orthoptists, undergraduate Orthoptists and other healthcare professionals.
• Contribute to departmental teaching, research and audit.
• Ensure that the policies and procedures of the Department of Orthoptics and Addenbrooke’s NHS Trust are adhered to.
