Summary
ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT
We are looking for an enthusiastic, genuine and friendly person who really enjoys working in hotels.
We want you to be part of a great and diverse team working together to provide great hospitality and accuracy to our guests and hotel in the accounts team.
In this role, you will be a key member of the Accounts Team, reporting to the Cluster Supervisor/Manager. Your main responsibility will be to ensure the efficient running of the finance functions within the property. The role will provide anyone with hospitality experience a great start to an accounting career.
As an Accounts Assistant we want you to -
- Be Self-motivated as you will be working mainly alone as part of a dispersed team
- Well organised- achieving deadlines for tasks and meeting targets
- Have good communication skills- to your colleagues in the hotel and within your cluster team.
- Be trustworthy and security conscious, you will have access to cash and guest and company financial details.
- Detail orientated- you will be completing repetitive , structured tasks which must be correct.
Accounts Assistant Responsibilities:
- Assist the Cluster Financial Controller /Accounts Manager in ensuring that profitability is optimised within the business.
- To ensure that all customer requests, complaints and queries are responded to promptly and effectively
- To ensure effective and timely communication of business performance and opportunities to all levels of management within the organization`s processes and timelines.
- To ensure that all banking transactions are processed and cleared in a timely manner.
- To ensure the weekly and monthly deadliness are processed within the timelines and ensure all appropriate signatures are on relevant documentation in line with company policy while maintaining confidentiality.
- To participate in the month end accounts processes in conjunction with central services, as per company policies and procedures, ensuring preparation of accurate and timely financial reports.
- To carry out the Income Audit functions fully for the property.
- To deal with the daily city ledgers and assist the AR department with queries to ensure that all debt is collectable.
- To assist with the Purchasing to ensure timely receipting and query resolution.
- To assist with the valuation of stock takes within the property
- To potentially provide support in other properties within the cluster should the need arise e.g. holiday cover
The ideal candidate for this position:
- Have an excellent level of business English.
- Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Be able to demonstrate a basic understanding & interpretation of financial reports.
- Have excellent attention to detail, organised and can work to strict deadlines.
- Have experience in team development.
- Have commercial understanding and business.
- Have proven competence in the use of accounting and PMS systems.
- Possess very good IT skills in Office applications.
- Experience of Opera, Micros and SAP. .
- Be flexible regarding travel and work hours, with a possibility of overnight stay.
- Experience of hospitality is ideal.
