Summary

Job title: Personal assistant

Area: Aberaeron area

Hours of work:
Occasional support within the family home. Being one session of Up to 10 hours per day with a £60 overnight rate once a Month

Rate of pay: £12.50 per hour for daytime support plus holiday pay.
Own room provided for overnight respite, overnight allowance of £60 per night (sleeping duty) converting to hourly rate if required to be awake with the service user


Introduction:
This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme
The service user is a young boy (8 years old).

He will need support with meals and snacks. And assist him to remain hydrated.

The personal assistant is required to provide companionship and support within the family home providing the same level of support as his parents provide, The package of care is to enable the family to have respite from their caring role knowing he is in a safe environment.

The Personal Assistant is not required generally to be awake during the night but sleep in the property providing security and support if required. If client is disturbed and needs assistance that requires PA to be on waking duty then the hourly rate will apply for this period.

Main tasks/activities
• To provide companionship at home and carry out personal care tasks to ensure the client is comfortable.
• assisting and supervising the taking medications
• To engage in conversation and encourage activities for socialisation
• To ensure the health and safety of the individual at all times
• To assist the employer in maintaining a healthy environment
• To carry out any other reasonable requests that the service user may make from time to time.

Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
