Position: Insurance Manager

Job Description:
We are currently seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Insurance Manager to join our team in Dorset. As the Insurance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading the Insurance function within the Audit, Insurance, and Strategic Risk Management Department. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement comprehensive insurance arrangements for Dorset and Devon & Cornwall Police.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Insurance function, providing expert guidance and support to the team.
  • Develop and maintain effective insurance policies and procedures in line with organisational objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the primary advisor on insurance matters for Devon & Cornwall Police, Dorset Police, OPCC Devon & Cornwall, and OPCC Dorset.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Oversee the analysis of insurance risks and claims, implementing strategies to mitigate potential losses.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess insurance needs and identify opportunities for improvement.


Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in insurance management, preferably within the public sector.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven track record of managing complex insurance portfolios and delivering results.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., ACII, ARM) would be advantageous.
